4. What is Registration Renewal? Can I start exit procedures after registration? What is a Leave of Absence?

Students have to renew their registration at the beginning of each academic semester. In order to register for the semester, the tuition fee for that semester must be paid between the dates specified in the calendar.

Students who register at Koç University or renew their registration can receive full tuition fee refund if they cancel their registration within the time period specified in the Academic Calendar. Students who cancel their registration later than the specified time period cannot benefit from tuition fee refund.

A student may request a leave of absence due to compelling personal reasons. To this end, the student must apply to the University Executive Council to take a leave of absence for one or several terms. The council, then will evaluate the case and make a decision. Students who are allowed to take a leave of absence can resume their studies at the end of the leave period without any further decision. Students who want to take a leave of absence must have completed all registration procedures including the payment of tuition fees.

5. What is a course schedule?

There is a distinct course schedule laid out for each department in the university. Under this schedule, the total number and type of courses that students must complete in order to qualify for graduation is determined according to an 8 semester education period. This period can extend to 12 semesters for the School of Medicine. Students with a minimum GPA of 2.00 will be eligible to graduate from their respective undergraduate degree programs. Courses are grouped into common core, required area, general elective and area elective headings. There are program specific required and elective courses along with laboratory, applied, thesis studies whose corresponding credits vary between 1 and 4. The course schedule proposed for each department is included in the University Prospectus. The minimum number of courses that students can take compatible with their academic levels is determined by this schedule which in turn determines the course load of the student for each semester. Students plan their courses according to this schedule. Students can access their course schedules on KUSIS.
