1. How and when can I use the Library?

When you get registered as a KU student, you also get registered to the
library system. You can access your library account from this link with your KUNet
ID, your username with which you will log in to the systems required throughout
your university life. In case you cannot login to the system, please create a Library
Track-it.
You can start using the library the first week of the semester without any extra
effort. Your KU ID card also functions as your library card. Suna Kıraç Library is
open to visitors 24/7 throughout the year.

2. How can I borrow materials?

After finding the book/material they want to borrow from the Library
Catalog, students should check its availability and location. Once taken note of
the call number indicating which shelf and in which order the book is in the
Library, they can borrow the book by using the Self-Check machine located on
the right side of the Library entrance.
When they need support during the borrowing process, they can use the
Information Desk located at the entrance of the Library.
Keep in mind that you need your KU ID card to borrow material. To see your
borrowing rights, please visit the library website.

3. How can I find if a book is in the library collection
or not?

You can find printed books available in the library collection through
making a catalog search in Library Catalog. For finding e-books, you can use
inKUire, the library’s most comprehensive search engine including all sorts of
materials available for the users.

4. How can I find electronic articles?

You can find electronic articles by doing a keyword search in our library
search engine inKUire. You can think of it as the library’s Google. It is ideally the
place you can start your research, and it encapsulates library’s all materials:

books, e-books, journal articles, magazine articles etc. With the filters on the left
of the webpage, you can select “Full Text Online” option, the type of article you
need or the year range.
With different keyword combinations, you can reach different sets of results and
by clicking the “Full Text Online” box in each result, you can read or download the
article.

5. How can I access electronic resources off
campus?

The off-campus access to library’s electronic resources is provided
through the OpenAthens system. Whenever you want to access library online
resource off-campus through inKUire or library’s AtoZ database page, the system
will direct you to sign in with your KU authentication information (your KUNet ID
and password).
OpenAthens offers a secure, reliable, and seamless experience for Koç University

6. How can I request articles that are unavailable in
the Library Collection?

You can obtain articles that you need for your research but are not
available in the Suna Kıraç Library through the Article Request Service. You can
place your request using the “Article Request Form.”

7. How can I find course reserve /e-reserve materials
from the Textbooks Collection?

You can browse the Textbook Collection that is reserved for your course
readings in the Textbooks search option of the Library website. Textbooks added
to the collection can be in print or e-reserve format.
If a printed book reserved for your course appears as a result of the search on the
website, you can borrow it for 4 hours from the Information Desk located at the
entrance of the Library.

You should use KUNet ID and password to access e-reserve course materials.

8. How can I find guides for my discipline?

Reference librarians provide subject specific guides for different
disciplines. These tailored guides will include key resources such as a
comprehensive list of essential books, journals, and databases. You search
subject guides from https://libguides.ku.edu.tr/

9. How can I be informed about Library events and
instructions?

You can frequently check our Instructions & Events Calendar. Also, do
not forget to check out the Library announcements you will receive via KUDaily
and follow our social media accounts!

10. How can I get help with library use and research?

Our reference librarians are always ready to assist you. You can come to
the library in person or use the suitable option from the “Ask-a-Librarian” web
page.

11. How can I find library resources for ELC?

ELC students can check out the video included in our First Year
Experience libguide to see a brief overview of the Library resources they can
benefit from.

12. What is a Library Student Ambassador and how
can you become one?

Each year, Suna Kıraç Library chooses student ambassadors to volunteer
for library events and activities. Our ambassadors help us gain insights about the
student perspective regarding library events and services and announce them
within the student community. In the process, they gain valuable communication
and teamwork skills.
